Expansion History

The first charge point network

EV Driver was incorporated in 2016 and set about the big task of building a public network of charge points in the East of England, why may you ask? Well, it’s simple! It’s where we live and we love our county, having spent the previous 10 years helping to make it ‘The Greenest County’ the one thing that was missing was a fully public Pay As You Go network of charge points to enable us to travel freely and encourage others to drive a clean green Electric Vehicles when they visit our beautiful countryside. There was little or no help from the government at this time as they were concentrating on cities, mainly London due to the high pollution levels.

2016

Unveiling across the East of England

So we set about putting all the elements together to make it happen, not an easy task as there are many technical difficulties to overcome , software, hardware,SIM connectivity, payments solutions and then of course the ideal locations, would they all work together and where would find the willing sites. We had many obstacles to overcome but we did it and the first public unit went live in 2016, during the next 3 years we added 16 more dual socket charge units. Providing a network across the East was not enough we wanted to join the dots and set about joining other networks together to provide a wider roaming network of chargers across the UK , becoming the first UK network to fully adopt roaming platforms we then opened up our chargers to drivers coming over from Europe, we believed our close proximity to Harwich and Felixstowe would encourage EV Divers to travel that little bit further in their EV if we made it possible and we were right, they came.

Expanding across the UK

In January 2020 EV Driver was able to fulfill the next part of its growth strategy to ensure continued growth of the expanding public network by agreeing to fully merge the network with Plug-N-Go, this strategic move means EVD and PNG working closely together and can now offer fully and partly funded solutions for public charging. The expanding network now reaches across the water as far as Gibalter and Guernsey and continues to expand. We are on the lookout for suitable retail and hospitality sites to expand further, so get in touch if you know of a site that would be suitable.

Focusing on growing the public Network

To continue to grow the public network, we need sites that want to embrace a clean green world and actively encourage EV drivers to visit. If you have a suitable site with carparking spaces,  open to the public 24/7 and would like to encourage more visitors, then what are you waiting for?

Fully funded solutions with profit share are available for hospitality, retail and the public sector.
